General Q&A

Q: What is electrolysis?

A: Electrolysis is the only FDA approved method of permanent hair removal. With electrolysis, we are able to target critical areas of the hair follicle directly in order to ensure complete hair destruction.

Q: Is electrolysis right for me?

A: Probably! Unlike laser hair removal, electrolysis can be done on any hair color or skin tone which gives us more flexibility on what we can treat. If you have any specific concerns, reach out to us at info@transhealthcollectivemn.com

Q: What’s the difference between electrolysis and laser hair removal?

A: Electrolysis works by directing electrical current within the hair follicle to kill each hair individually. This process is slower but more precise than laser hair removal.

Laser hair removal beams highly concentrated light into hair follicles. Pigment in the follicles absorbs the light as heat, which damages the follicle and reduces hair growth. Laser hair removal can be faster and cover large areas of the body quickly, but it is not as precise or as permanent as electrolysis.

Q: How long will this process take?

A: Hair growth works in cycles and there are many factors at play (hair thickness, density of hair, area of the body, etc.). Generally you can expect weekly one hour appointments for 12-18 months to fully treat an area.
